Top 10 Wow Items for Planning a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Party

A table with a human centerpiece can be used as a welcome table displaying seating cards, or serving beverages or food items.  The guests interact with a themed character, making the experience more personable. Fun for Mitzvah Celebrations, but also Birthdays and Anniversaries.

Such acts come to life suddenly, surprising guests. Excellent for a grand entrance.

It’s always most important to set off the energy of an event from the first contact with a guest.

The energy of a party can be best showcased by the cocktail reception’s music.  We recommend modern music such as an electric violin for birthdays and anniversaries. For weddings, elegant and classic is still the way to go.

Ultra-violet lighting for a party is always cool, and neon décor looks best with this detail. Black lights always transform any room into a nightclub, and remind us of our youth, and also of how much we hate lint!

Every large celebration showcases a presentation of the honorary guest or host. To accent their introduction, pairing the special touch with their personality or heritage is always fabulous.

If the birthday girl hails from New Orleans, what better way to introduce them than with a marching band. If the Bar Mitzvah boy is a basketball fan, have him walk in escorted by the Miami Heat’s cheerleaders.

A trussing tower with an acrobat serving Champagne is not only purposeful, but also a decorative showstopper.

Fire-spewing and bottle throwing showman bartenders or stilted robot dancers shooting CO2 guns always get the guests’ attention, and will make sure they talk about your party for years to come.

  1. ICE BAR

While a costly endeavor, it is not only practical, but a focal point of any room. The bar can be equipped with vodka luges, beer taps, etc.

Regardless of age, kids and adults alike everyone likes a shower with colorful tissue paper.

While a fireworks show is always fabulous, a Laser Show is just as fun and certainly more environmentally friendly.

Inspiration can come our way from many places, but children’s books with a mature message are always a favorite. For one of our Club’s many galas, we chose Alice in Wonderland, and boy, did we have fun creating this one! The options were endless. The rule book was thrown out the window. With the help of Xquisite Events, we created not one, not two, but four tablescapes, one more interesting than the next, ranging from the iconic caterpillar on the giant mushroom, the tea party, the Red Queen’s flamingos, and so on. The vibrant colors of Over the Top Linens’ marvelous linens helped finish off the look. We highly recommend this theme for a fun, upbeat gala, bat or bat mitzvah.

Natalie & Alex

On their first wedding anniversary, we would like to send Natalie and Alex our best wishes. We are reminded what a fabulous wedding day they had on May 29th of 2016, and achieved a grand affair by hiring the likes of Rabbi Paul Plotkin, Emily Harris Photography, Senderey Videography, Dalsimer Decor, Over the Top Linens, Libido Band, and of course the Catering team at Broken Sound Club.

As seen in the great photos of Emily Harris, the bride selected a rustic, earthy design carried through in the floral design and chuppah, menu, as well as utilizing Broken Sound Club’s fabulous raw wood table. As for their entertainment, they selected one of South Florida’s top bands, Libido, who kept the party going until the late hours of the night.

Anniversaries are milestones where one can pause and reflect on life, and to cherish all the beautiful memories. This wedding will always be in our hearts. Natalie and Alex – may the freshness of your love always remain as vibrant as on your wedding day!

Logan’s Enchanted Garden

, , , , , , , ,

For her Bat Mitzvah celebration, Logan and her loving family, along with the help of event planner Julie Cohen of It Events conceived an enchanted garden theme that was mystical and amazingly fun. They chose Dalsimer – Atlas Floral and Event Decorators to create a custom design that was fresh, and different. With the help of Jim Dalsimer, the room was transformed into a floral extravaganzza, that included jeweled watering cans, life-size trees, keys made of flower buds, and hundreds of butterflies. The petal linens from Over the Top Linens were enhanced by Broken Sound Club’s colorful glass sponge charger plates as a finishing touch. The Club’s LED uplighting was put to good use, and three accent colors were selected to light up the ballroom’s perimeter.

Our client’s didn’t miss a beat. The kids had a multitude of games from Cocktail Hour Entertainment to keep busy with, as well as a 360 degree photo activity, that appealed to the adults as well. However, Motiv8 Events kept the crowd on the dancefloor for most of the night. Menu-wise, the guests enjoyed a Tomato-Mozzarella Stack for an appetizer, and an impressive entree that included Kung Pao Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs, Seared Shrimp and Grits accompanied by Candied Nueske’s Bacon, Cajun “Beer Blanc,” Garlic – Chile Popcorn and a Scallion Waffle. As the sweet ending, a multitude of miniature sweet confections were butler passed on the dancefloor. The guests were also surprised by treats from Donut Divas on their way out. All the guests had a fantastic time, and thanks to the flawless work of Munoz Photography and Timeline Video everyone can see why. Enjoy!

This fabulous engagement party of nearly 200 guests was designed and organized by the mother of the bride, Michelle, who wanted a fun-filled celebratory evening to start off an exciting year consisting of an over the top wedding, and a year of bliss for the happy couple. To entice the party, the hostess opted for Rock with U’s fusion band, as well as dancers to get the crowd moving, and later to turn up the heat with a Latin Hora Loca (Crazy Hour). Lush floral landscapes were accompanied by royal blue and celadon linens and gold leaf overlays. A multitude of delectable reception stations ensured that no cravings were left unsatisfied. A magnificent time was had by all in attendance, and esteemed photographer Alain Martinez was luckily there to capture it all.

Fabulous Birthday Celebration

, , , , , ,

Year after year, one of our favorite clients honors us with throwing the party of the year, and this past November was no exception. Jerry coopted us to plan his 87th birthday celebration, or “the rehearsal to his 90th” as he liked to call the party, and left us in charge of all aspects of the event, requested to know very little about the details. While it is a tremendous honor to have earned that level of confidence of our client, it is also the most nerve wracking achievement, as you never want to disappoint.

Since Jerry’s one request was to incorporate a bit of gambling somehow into the event, the Catering Team thought up a theme that would encompass everything that Jerry loved. “Eat Love Play” was a play on words inspired by the fantastic memoir and movie titled “Eat Love Pray,” resulting in an affair where great food and music, were accompanied by casino games in the company of loving friends and family.

The Club’s Executive Chef, Joe Longo created a fabulous fall-appropriate menu consisting of a Farmer’s Market Salad with Charred Broccoli, Cauliflower, Apples, Beets, Candied Pumpkin Seeds, Manchego Crisps, and Sherry Vinaigrette, while the main course was a selection between Porcini Dusted Halibut and a Center Cut Filet Mignon. Jerry’s Favorite Things were all on the menu for the Dessert as well. The decadent spread included a Dulche de Leche Brownie Bar, Meyer Lemon Cheesecake, and a Dark Chocolate Tart with Homemade Peanut Butter Mousse Quenelle.

For the ambiance, we chose Xquisite Events as the decorator, and they ran with the fun, colorful concept, utilizing purple, lime and silver as their main colors. Nancy Gilbert of Xquisite Events designed four different table designs and centerpieces, leaving our client in tears of happiness. The floral arrangements included antique hydrangeas, orchids, Bells of Ireland, etc.

Due to the proximity of the event to the Presidential Elections, who best to bring out the cake for Jerry, then two impersonators, poking fun at the contentious election year. Special thanks to Stephan Maloman, and Timeline Video for their exquisite photography and videography of the event.

The Perfection Of Chef Tables

A key attribute of Broken Sound Club’s Chef’s Tables is that we ensure members and their guests the opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes, in the setting of our bustling main kitchen.

The uniqueness of indulging in scrumptious food and partaking in the cooking experience is not an original idea of ours, but we do make it our own. The unique experience of seeing your meal prepared from scratch, and an Executive Chef talking you through each stage of the meal prepping process is overwhelming. The ambiance is enhanced with specialty linens, and phenomenal floral décor.  The Chef’s Table give that sense of personal one on one interaction to ask questions and recommendations on meal guidance for your cooking pleasure.

It is a highly exclusive experience, as we only host the event during the three months of summer. Less than two hundred people get to enjoy it every year. The exquisite wines paired with the meals further enhance the dining experience.  You see the kitchen transform into a quaint and cliquish setting unable to contain the excitement. The busy and loud environment of everything that is going on around you, certainly keeps you energized. Although the environment of the kitchen is fast paced, you can sit back and relax, take in all of what goes into the creation of your signature dish.

To conclude your Chef’s Table experience, Broken Sound Club loves to shower its guests with gifts.  The favors include a personalized Broken Sound Club apron, and a scrumptious dessert to take home, compliments of the Pastry team.
