Jerry wanted his 85th birthday bash to be all about family, so he asked Broken Sound’s catering team to create a fun and fabulous party for 100 family and friends. He did not want to know any details, he wanted to walk into the ballroom and be amazed by what we have created. Talk about pressure! However, there is no bigger compliment from a client than that kind of confidence in our abilities and talent. The heat was on!
Our inspiration was given by Jerry’s large family, so we decided to construct everything around a symbolic family tree. With Nancy Gilbert’s help from Xquisite Events, each table feautured a six foot tall dragonwood tree. The tree branches were accented with capriccio roses, moss and green amaranthus. Small wooden frames with a plethora of family photos adorned the tree. The taupe and brown tablecloths with branch design were a lucky find at Over the Top Linens. Each place setting was further enhanced by the mocha brown leaf chargers from Different Look. A stunning forest backdrop behind the stage completed the look.
As for the luncheon itself, the guests enjoyed a plated appetizer consisting of Maine Lobster, heirloom tomatoes, grilled corn, roasted peppers, micro greens, caviar and avocado puree embellished with an orange – chipotle vinaigrette. The food stations included a farmer’s market salad, giant raviollis, chicken milanese and lamb carving. Since we had an over the top menu and fabulous design, we also had to arrange for captivating entertainment. To achieve that we enlisted the help of magician Gary Goodman and a phenomenal pianist. It goes without saying that Jerry is well excited about celebrating his 90th with us! The only thing left to figure out is how we’re going to top this last party?
